What is the IIT JEE Exam and Who All Are Eligible To Appear?
Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) is a national level exam which admits students into engineering colleges worldwide. It occurs in two phases which are JEE Main as well as JEE Advanced. The mode for the exam requires the aspirant to have the knowledge of the computer. This is because it is either online or computer-based.
To qualify for this exam, the candidates are required to :1. Secure at least 75% aggregate marks in Class XII Board Examination in 2019 or 2020 in which they compulsorily opt for physics, chemistry, and mathematics. The students belonging to SC, ST as well as PwD categories are required to have 65% as their total aggregate.
2. Be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates either in their respective class XII board examination in 2019 or 2020. They are however required to have physics, chemistry as well as mathematics as their compulsory subjects
3. Further, they must have been born on or after October 1’1995. The students born on or after October 1’1990 belonging to SC, ST, and PwD are also eligible for the exam.
There Are Two Phases Of Exams In II-JEE
IIT JEE Main Exam The First Stage Of IIT JEE Examination
Stage One: The FIrst Stage All those candidates who aim for admissions in IIT, NIT, as well as CFTI level institutions, are required to give this exam. To qualify for the JEE Advanced, the students are required to get into the list of top 2,50,000 rank holders.
Date For Applications For the First Stage: To appear for the April session, the application process began from February 7th to March 12th. When Will The IIT JEE Exam Be Conducted: JEE main examination is conducted twice in a year by the National Testing Agency once in January and the other in April. The candidates can opt to appear for both the exams. The highest score in which the candidate secures is taken for the purpose of admissions.
Syllabus For The Exam: The authority conducting JEE Main 2020 this year will assess the candidates for three papers. Paper 1 will be Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Paper 2 would consist of assessing the candidate on Mathematics, Aptitude, Drawing, and paper 3 would include mathematics, aptitude test as well as planning based questions. Release Of Admit Card: The admit card for JEE April 2020 exam had to release by the National Testing Agency on 16th March’2020. Due to the extension of the correction date of the application, the date has been extended and would be notified soon. The admit card would be available on the official website which is jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Date Of Examination: The JEE Main 2020 examination has been scheduled on April 5th, April 7th, April 9th, as well as April 11th, 2020. However due to the unprecedented advent of coronavirus, the same has been scheduled for July 18 to July 23. After much confusion, the university grant commission has now decided to schedule IIT JEE MAINS between September 1 to September 6’2020.

Exam Pattern: The number of questions in the exam will now be 25 per subject as compared to the earlier 30 questions. Besides the multiple-choice questions, the paper would consist of questions whose answers are to be filled as numerical values.
The Second Stage Of IIT JEE Advanced Examination
Date Of Commencement Of Online Applications For Registration: Online registration for the JEE Advanced exam starts from May 1, 2020, and the same would close on May 6, 2020. The last date to pay the application fee, however, is May 7, 2020.
Date Of Release Of Admit Card: The admit card for the JEE Advanced 2020 would be released on its official website on May 12, 2020, and the same would be available for download until May 17, 2020.
Reservation In Seats: In 2019, the supernumerary seats were capped at 17 percent. To be eligible for those seats, the candidates have to qualify JEE Advanced exam. However this year, the notification for JEE Advanced 2020 states that the total number of supernumerary seats for female candidates has been increased for the academic session 2020-21 to 20% from 17%.
What Is The Date Of The Exam: Due to the situation prevailing in the country, the Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced that the IIT JEE Advanced has been rescheduled and will now be conducted in the month of August 23’2020. It is now scheduled for September 27’2020.
Eligibility: The candidates who make the list of top 2.5 lakh will be eligible to appear for this exam.
Change In The Exam Pattern as well as Reduction In Syllabus: As a result of the neverending flattering of the coronavirus curve, the Indian Institutes Of Technology will conduct a review meeting of Joint Admissions Board in which they will discuss the change in the proposal on the format of the exam as well as a reduction in syllabus due to the social distancing norms. The decisions will however only be taken for the JEE Advance 2020.
