According to the New National Education Policy 2020, the Ministry of Education for the first time in India has made it mandatory that from the Academic Session 2022-2023, there will be One Main Examination for Admission to all the Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma Certification Programs.

That all 88 Central Universities, including 12 State and 21 Private Deemed Universities will have to follow, the new program which would be called as Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and would be conducted by the National Testing Agency. The Examination Structure for CUET would consist of the following 4 Sections. (1). Section 1A – 13 Languages, (2) Section 1B – 19 Languages (3) Section 11 – 27 Domain Specific Subjects and (4) Section 111 – General Test. Choosing options from each Section is not mandatory. Choices should match the requirements of the desired University.

Mode of Test is Computer Based – CBT. Since the introduction of CUET, the weightage to the Class 12 results have been reduced to only 40%. Earlier the admissions to the UG Program depended on the class 12 Board Score. In future IIT-JEE Examination, would be merged with CUET and students would get admission to B.Tech courses of well-known Central and Private Universities. The Syllabus is as per NCERT Model applicable to Class XII only.
